Not the hour. The age. > > Somewhere in there you made a set of decisions about how the world works. ## **Why that window** A young child doesn't evaluate what happens to him. He absorbs it. He has no context, no comparison, no ability to think *Dad's having a rough week* or *Mom didn't mean that.* He has an event and a conclusion, and the conclusion arrives fast and feels like a fact rather than an opinion. Somewhere around seven, that changes. The filter comes online. From then on you evaluate, weigh, and argue with what you're told. Everything after that gets built on top of what got installed before it. ## **The install is usually ordinary** This is the part people get wrong. It's rarely trauma. It's a dad at the kitchen table who says *not now, buddy* on a bad Tuesday, and means nothing by it, and comes back ten minutes later to look at the drawing. But the kid already ran the numbers. *If I need something from someone, I'm a burden.* And then he lives forty more years on top of that sentence. Nobody did anything wrong. That's what makes it so hard to find. ## **Some of it you didn't even live** You also absorbed what you watched. If your father was heavy at fifty and never questioned it, you didn't just inherit his metabolism — you inherited his relationship with his own body, his idea of what a man does with stress, and what he considered normal at that age. You're running his code on your hardware. Until somebody rewrites it, that's where it goes. ## **Why it doesn't change on its own** Most people change when the pain of staying finally outweighs the fear of changing. That's the usual mechanism, and it works — but it's slow, and the bill has to get very high before the math tips. Divorce. A diagnosis. A partner walking. A number that finally goes the wrong way. Most men wait for that. They call it being realistic. There's a faster way, and it doesn't require the catastrophe. You go underneath, find where the code was written, and change it at the source — which takes hours, not decades, and doesn't require you to lose anything first. ## **What that has to do with you now** Those early decisions don't stay in childhood. They show up in your health, your money, and the people closest to you — the three things every man is standing on. Those three are load-bearing, and they don't fail separately. When one cracks it transfers weight to the other two, quietly, and the other two absorb it because they're strong. Which is why the symptom almost never shows up where the fault is. Sometimes it comes back diffuse. No single pillar, a signal running under all three at once. That reads like a non-answer and it isn't. It usually means the root sits further down than any one domain — a single rule generating pressure in three places at the same time. It's common in men who've been carrying it longest, and it's often the more useful result, because it tells you not to go looking in one room. The work is the same either way. Find where the code was written and rewrite it there. A named pillar just tells us which door to open first. **Measure first. Find the root.
